70 BTC and 300 Ethereum Stolen from Ledger Nano X in Phishing Attack, Successfully Recovered by BitReclaim
In a phishing scam targeting Ledger Nano X users, a victim recently lost 70 BTC and 300 Ethereum. Despite not accessing their wallet for over a year, the funds were mysteriously drained without the victim connecting to any dApps.
It was later revealed that the victim had clicked on a phishing link during a remote update attempt. This led to the scammers obtaining the victim’s recovery phrase, allowing them to steal the funds.
Fortunately, BitReclaim, a trusted cryptocurrency recovery firm, used blockchain forensics to trace the stolen assets to leveraged outsourced wallets. The full amount of 70 BTC and 300 Ethereum was successfully recovered and returned to the victim.
